     The 21st century is an era of Entrance exams. As per a 2016 Supreme Court ruling and the recommendations of the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020), admission to professional courses after Std. 12 has to be strictly on the basis of an Entrance exam and NOT on the basis of XII Boards marks. The XII Boards marks currently have zero weightage and serve merely as an eligibility criterion.

     Students aspiring to pursue their careers in Engineering, Medicine & Pure Sciences have to appear for a host of Entrance exams like JEE MAINS, JEE ADVANCED, NEET, BITSAT, MHT-CET, VITEEE etc. All Engineering Entrance exams are administered in Online mode and NEET is also expected to become an Online exam from 2023 onwards. The Central Govt has also introduced CUET from 2022 onwards for non-professional courses like BSc, BCom, BA etc.
